"Larry D. Hall"

Is an American politician from Durham North Carolina. A democrat he has served in the North Carolina House of Representative as the member from North Carolina's 29th district since 2006.He was appointed to the position in 2006 by then governor Mike Easley and won reelection in 2008.Included in his district,are the prestigious HBCU North Carolina University and the downtown district of Durham,NC.Larry is a member of the North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus and a decorated member of the United States Marine Corps.He is currently serving his second term in the North Carolina House of Representatives,representing Durham County.Larry received a B.S. with honors in Political Science and Business in 1978 from Johnson C. University and a J.D. from the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Larry is an active member of his community.He has served as an Executive Committee Member and Economic Committee Chairman of the Durham branch of the NAACP since 1994.Since 1995,He has served as Secetary of the Durham Business and Professional Chain Board.From 1990-1995,he served as the Board Chairman of the Durham Companions Mentor Program.In 1995 he served as a business mentor in the Rights of Passage program.Larry served 19 years in the United States Marine Corps and served in the support of the Iraq War.While in the Marine Corps,He attended the Jungle Warfare School,the combined Arms School,and the Staff Force Planning School.He has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal,the Marine Corps Reserve Medal,and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.Additionally,Larry received a Meritorious Unit Citation from the United States Marine Corps.In 1986,Larry was recognized as an Outstanding Young Man of America.In 1997,he was awarded the NAACP President's Award.Larry was appointed on the State Econmic Development Board.The Duke Medical Center Advisory Board,and been inducted as a Toll Fellow by the National Conference of State Governments.At beginning of the 2009 North Carolina Legislative Sessions.He was elected as a Majority Whip in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
